Carolyn Jo Critser, age 54, of Henderson, KY, passed away at 12:35 PM, Sunday, March 5, 2017, at St. Mary’s Medical Center under the care of Hospice.

Today, Carolyn would have turned 55 years old had she not lost her battle with ovarian cancer. She was diagnosed in 2010 and received treatments at the James Brown Center in Louisville until last November. Carolyn was the only child born to Wayne and Linda Wells Critser. She was a member of Airline Baptist Church for many years. She began dating her high school boyfriend again after he saw her name on the prayer list at church. Carolyn had worked for River Valley Comprehensive Care, now known as River Valley Behavioral Health from 1993 to 2012 as a Medical Record Specialist. She was a 1980 HCHS graduate. Carolyn was nominated to walk in the Kentucky Derby Oaks Cancer Survivor Walk in May of 2016. She participated for 7 years in the Henderson County Relay for Life. Ellis Park sponsored a race in her honor for ovarian cancer awareness that was attended by many friends and family members. She was very thankful to be able to fly with her family and grandchildren to Disney World on two separate occasions in the last six months. Carolyn loved her sons and grandsons better than life. She was tall, slender, and had sun kissed skin. She loved trips to the ocean, girl weekends, and memories made with family and her group of high school girlfriends. Carolyn loved t-shirts, Bermuda shorts, flip-flops, and converse tennis shoes. She had a sense of humor and was very witty. Carolyn enjoyed her cat Callie that she often shared pictures of on Facebook.

The family would like to especially thank Dr. Metzinger and his staff in Louisville, and the nurses of St. Mary’s for the care given to Carolyn and to her special friends and family that was beside her throughout her illness.
