Ruth Naggs, 86, died from ovarian cancer on Sunday, July 16, 2017, in Hot Springs Village, Ark. She was born in Centerville, Iowa, on August 7, 1930, to Abijah and Hazel Winter and was the youngest of three daughters. She married Wilson (Bill) Naggs in 1952 after they met at Parsons College in Fairfield, Iowa. Ruth and Bill lived in Iowa City, Iowa, Cincinnati, Ohio, and St. Louis, Mo., before moving to Bettendorf, Iowa, where they resided for 40 years. They retired to Hot Springs Village, Ark., in 2004.

Ruth enjoyed family and friends, travel and golf. She took pride in her work as an EKG technician, which helped to support Bill through graduate school at the University of Iowa. She later worked in the home office of Von Maur department store in Davenport, Iowa.

Ruth served on numerous church committees, including her favorite, the Fair Trade Coffee Project. She also gave her heart and soul as a volunteer with projects such as Bettendorf Athletic Boosters Club and working with the homeless through Jackson House in Hot Springs, Ark. Ruth was a long time member of the TTT Society, serving as Iowa State President for 1982. She particularly enjoyed fulfilling the society’s mission to send underprivileged girls to summer camp.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Helen Young, and her grandson Bill Naggs. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, her eldest sister, Mary Ellen Atkins, children Jeff (Diane), Steve, Julie (Frank), and grandson Ian. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 26, at Presbyterian Kirk in the Pines, 275 Asturias Drive, Hot Springs Village, Ark.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the NormaLeah Ovarian Cancer Initiative, TTT Endowment Fund, Bettendorf Presbyterian Church, Presbyterian Kirk in the Pines, or by serving a friend suffering with cancer.
