Susan Charles, age 71, of Bettendorf, formerly of Moon Township, PA, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, after a courageous three-year battle with ovarian cancer.

Susan was born April 6, 1943, in Munhall, PA, the daughter of Wilbur and Elizabeth (Fabian) Beamer. She was united in marriage to Frank Charles on November 14, 1964, in Pittsburgh, PA. She was a three term elected tax collector and a one term auditor for Moon Township. She enjoyed serving her community as an elected official. Previously, she was a head teller at Beaver Trust Company, and worked in real estate. Susan was a member of the Moon Township Rotary and the West Hills Women’s Club. She served as a Republican committee woman for Allegheny County in Pennsylvania. She was a volunteer at UnityPoint – Trinity in Bettendorf. She loved attending Broadway shows and reading.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Frank; son, Randolph (Jerelind) Charles, Tuscaloosa, AL; daughter, Rebecca (Bruce) Robinson, Bettendorf; grandchildren, Wilbur and Aileen Charles and Samuel Robinson; and her mother, Elizabeth Beamer, Bettendorf.

Her father preceded her in death.
