Susan Wahlmann (artist) honors Jane, the mother of a college friend who passed away from ovarian cancer. Susan’s torso sculpture blends her life-long love of crochet with a free-form corset. She completes the piece using the Zentangle art method with a palette that reflects ovarian cancer’s awareness colors.

Mike Thoms (community leader) serves as Mayor of Rock Island. His mother died from cancer in 2008, the same year as our namesake, Norma.
