The peacock idea was inspired when community leader Paula Sands mentioning that she likes peacocks, and the concept was born.  Corrine Smith (artist) is usually a 2D abstract artist, so she says working on the sculpture with a definite image was a challenge and a nice change. She used acrylic paint, handmade paper, feathers, and beads.

Paula Sands (community leader) is an ovarian Cancer survivor, and the host of the Paula Sands show on KWQC-TV. She has been an integral part of the NormaLeah Ovarian Cancer Initiative since the organization was founded.
